The original Production Tool Supply

Recognizing the need for a more efficient way to deliver industrial products to the local market D. Dan Kahn started Production Tool Supply (PTS) in 1951. Starting with a 3,000-square foot building in Warren, Michigan, a handful of dedicated employees, and a growing inventory of industrial supplies, PTS began selling to small shops looking for off-the-shelf service and discount prices. Customers around the Detroit area appreciated PTS's great service and comprehensive availability of quality tools at wholesale prices. Soon, PTS showrooms and warehouses were opening throughout Michigan and Northern Ohio to provide same-day service to local customers.

From an initial inventory of cutting tools and abrasives, PTS added thousands of new, first-quality products to their offering, including precision measuring instruments, carbide inserts, hand tools, power tools, workholding devices, safety supplies, fasteners, tool room machinery and a complete selection of machine accessories. Eventually, PTS built one of the largest inventories of American-made and global industrial supplies in North America.
